Medical Disclaimer
HealthLens is an educational and informational tool. It does not provide medical advice and is not a substitute for the judgment of a qualified healthcare professional.
1. Not a medical device
The HealthLens mobile application is intended for general health-information purposes only. It is not a medical device. It is not registered with the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA), the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) in India, the Medicines & Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) in the UK, the European Medicines Agency (EMA), or any other regulator of medical devices. It is not certified as Software as a Medical Device (SaMD) under IEC 62304 or any equivalent standard.
2. No doctor-patient relationship
Using the app does not create a doctor-patient relationship between you and us, between you and any AI system, or between you and any clinician whose name may appear in your reports. Information generated by the app is not medical advice, a medical opinion, a diagnosis, a prognosis, a treatment plan, a prescription, or a recommendation about any drug, dose, device, procedure, or therapy.
3. AI output may be wrong
The app uses Optical Character Recognition (OCR) to read your reports and a Large Language Model (LLM) to explain them. Both can:
- misread digits, decimal points, units, or reference ranges, especially on handwritten or low-quality scans;
- fabricate plausible-sounding but incorrect explanations ("hallucinations");
- fail to take into account information that is not in the report — your full medical history, recent changes in medication, regional reference ranges, special populations such as pregnant patients or paediatric patients, comorbidities, or contraindications;
- be out of date relative to the latest clinical guidelines.
Always cross-check any value, range, dose, or interpretation that you intend to act on. Treat AI output as a discussion starter for a conversation with a qualified professional, not as a clinical decision.
4. Always consult a qualified professional
Before making any health-related decision — including starting, stopping, or changing a medication; interpreting a lab value; or deciding whether a symptom is serious — consult a licensed physician, pharmacist, or other qualified healthcare professional in your jurisdiction. Never disregard professional medical advice or delay in seeking it because of something you read in the app.
5. Medication reminders
The medication-reminder feature is a convenience aid that schedules local notifications based on the schedule you enter. It does not validate dose, timing, or interactions, and the underlying operating-system scheduler may delay or drop a notification (for example, when the device is in battery-saver mode, when notifications are silenced by Do-Not-Disturb, or when the app is force-stopped). Do not rely on the reminder feature alone for life-critical medication. We recommend a physical pillbox or another redundant system for any high-stakes medication regimen.
6. Pill identifier
The pill-identifier feature attempts to recognise a tablet or capsule from a photo and to look up its name and key information. The match may be wrong. Imprints, colours, and shapes can be ambiguous, and counterfeit medicines exist. Never take a medication based solely on what the app identifies. Always confirm with the original prescription, the dispensing pharmacist, or the manufacturer's printed information leaflet. The information shown for an identified pill is generated by the AI model and is not retrieved from a versioned drug database — see Information Sources §8 for the authoritative sources we recommend you check against.
7. AI Health Hub chat
Conversations with the AI Health Hub are intended to help you understand your reports in plain language. They are not a replacement for a clinical consultation, do not produce a diagnosis or treatment plan, and do not handle emergencies. The assistant has no real-time information about you, no access to your wider electronic health record, and no ability to escalate to a clinician.
8. Drug interactions
Some features may surface possible drug-drug or drug-food interactions. These checks are generated by the AI model at the moment you ask and are not retrieved from a versioned interaction database such as Lexicomp, Micromedex, Stockley's, or DrugBank Interactions. They do not account for your dosage, your renal/hepatic function, your other medications, your allergies, your age, your weight, your pregnancy status, or any genetic factor. Always confirm interactions with a licensed pharmacist or physician. See Information Sources §7 for primary sources to verify against.
9. Trends and charts
Trend charts plot the values you (or our OCR) have entered. A trend is only as accurate as its inputs. Different labs use different reference ranges, different units, and different methods; mixing them in a single chart can be misleading. Discuss any trend with your clinician before drawing a conclusion.
10. Geographical scope
The app is offered globally, but it is not tailored to the medical guidelines of every jurisdiction. Reference ranges, dosing conventions, brand names, and regulatory status may differ from one country to another. The information shown to you may not match your local standard of care.
11. No warranty of fitness for clinical use
The app is provided "as is" without warranty. We disclaim every warranty of fitness for a particular medical purpose to the maximum extent permitted by law. See the Terms of Service, sections 14–15, for the full warranty and liability terms.
12. Reporting errors and adverse events
If you believe the app produced an error that affected your health, or if you experienced an adverse event you believe to be related to a medication you tracked in the app, please:
- tell your healthcare provider first;
- email contact@fcappstudio.tech with the subject
[Adverse Event]so we can investigate the in-app behaviour; - report the adverse event to your country's pharmacovigilance authority (in India, to the Pharmacovigilance Programme of India / IPC; in the EU, to your national competent authority; in the US, to MedWatch).
13. Children
The app is not intended for use by children. A parent or legal guardian who chooses to track a child's reports does so at their own risk and remains responsible for all clinical decisions about the child.
14. Acknowledgement
By using the app you acknowledge that you have read this Medical Disclaimer, you understand it, and you agree to use the app only for general informational purposes consistent with this notice and with the Terms of Service.
